Most people going to La Tania probably fly to Geneva airport with www.easyjet.com and then either hire a car, get someone to pick them up or go by train using the connections mentioned below. A drive from Geneva takes between 2-3 hours.
The nearest airport to La Tania is Chambery - about 90 minutes away, but it is not always easy to get a decent priced flight to it. Other options include the airports at Grenoble , Lyon, St Etienne or Annecy via Paris .
By road
We've never attempted this trip from the UK , as we don't think our sanity would take the strain with our two nippers in the back for so many hours driving. But we know plenty that have done it with no problems. Although unless you're Le Mans style driver, most reckon its best to have an overnight stay half way and enjoy the journey and France a bit more. We know of some accommodation that our friends have stayed in if you struggling to find somewhere. Let us know.
Probably the best website for directions, prices, places to stop at is www.viamichelin.com. In summary, they reckon the journey from Calais is 924km and takes 8hrs 45 minutes, with toll and petrol costs amounting to £111.
By Train The nearest train station is 30 minutes away from La Tania at Moutier Salin Brides L Bain (73). In the summer months the trains are not so direct and so it will mean at least a couple of changes from London Waterloo.
Having tried searching the timetables, the easiest route although not necessarily the cheapest, would be to aim for Annecy station with Eurostar (www.eurostar.com). Train, bus (www.altbus.com) or a pick up by us would get you to La Tania from Annecy in 90 minutes or so. For the braver souls wanting to experience the more local train network then please see www.sncf.com/indexe.htm and www.raileurope.co.uk.

I'm afraid that I am short of information on this mode of transport for the moment. With my road bike hat on, then check out www.bike-express.co.uk/med_main.html. The nearest drop off would be Lyon . Again, you could make use of the above train and bus links, we could pick you up or you could cycle the 200kms! But for other coach routes you may find some decent connections with www.alpski-bus.com.
