Taking it easy
There is no need to be a super fit to take advantage of the mountains when you have a choice of pathways or silent, ultra-modern lifts to take you as high as 2800m. The fresh alpine landscapes will help you unwind and recharge your batteries. Resort-to-resort buses are free and an impressive network of lifts ferry you between 1300 and 2800m in comfort and silence.
Why not take a nap in one of the beautiful spots that abound La Tania and les 3 Vallées or organize a picnic? The banks of Lake Rosière or the lakes at Le Praz or Bozel make a magnificent venue for relaxing or having a barbecue. Click here to view the valley map.

Located at the edge of the Vanoise National Park , les 3 Vallées is the top spot for rambling and walking. The views are breathtaking and the brilliant lift system gives easy access to many gorgeous places. There is also the added bonus of choosing some routes that encompass a restaurant stop on the mountain side. Why not use a local guide to show you the best routes.
As for climbing, there are a range of activities to choose from depending on abilities. There are climbing walls to practice on at Courchevel 1550 & 1850 and guides who can help show you climbing routes at altitude.
A popular activity that is achievable by anyone with a head for heights is Via Ferrata. This is climbing with ropes and harnesses over a set route of metal rungs, monkey bridges and guide rails. See map for locations.

Such as th e Alpe d'Huez - 1,869 metres above sea level, with 21 notorious hairpin bends and a gradient of 10.6%. The Col du Galibier - the highest of all the climbs at 2642m and with a gradient of 12.1%. And the Col de la Madeleine - climbing 1505m in just 19.5k at the steepest gradient of 12.8%. We would of course welcome parties wishing to use us as a base to view the mountain stages of Le Tour.
